Sodor locomotive traction

Hi everyone. I’m hoping you are well.

Following on from Sam’s video last week I’m here to talk about the models we run on Sodor, in particular the Locomotives.

Many of the models are off the shelf, ready to run models mainly built by Bachmann with a few also from Hornby. But I hear you ask “what about the models that are not produced by the main manufacturers?” Well in short I make them myself.
As you can see from the pictures we have the majority of the major characters or if not in character form then at least in their basis traction form. For instance I don’t yet have a model of Henrietta but I have a model of a coach ready to be converted to her nor Daisy who I have a Triang DMU ready to be made.

Models I have scratchbuilt include
Harvey
Molly
Boco
Spencer
D261
D199
Diesel
Mavis
Bertie
Bulgy

Models I am working in or plan to start on include
Daisy
Bear
Murdoch
Oliver
16
Wilbert
Emily
Henrietta
Neville
Stepney
Rocky
Green express coaches
Red express coaches
Brown wooden coaches.

I also have quite a few wagons to “sodorise” by respraying and adding loads. Some of the models I have on display are versions I’m not happy with such as Stepney and Harvey who will need repainting. For many of my projects I find a suitable donor model such as a 14xx autotank  for Oliver and will purchase Ertl or Trackmaster models to use the faces.
I colour match the paint at an auto supplier to the nearest shade I can find or like I’m planning to do I will get paints specifically matched by specialists auto paint makers. Paint for Models such as Bertie, Spencer, Molly came from an aerosol can from my local poundshop (Dollar store for those in America) the shade may not be exact but to me it looks fine.
